  • Recurring Vaginal Bacterial and Yeast Infection Resolved

Many women with vulvovaginal symptoms of itching and burning are often told by there provider that on physical exam there is nothing wrong, that the tissues are normal. Women with these symptoms know that their problem is real and they seek the opinion of other providers who often tell them the same thing. Then there are providers who surmise that it must be some type of vaginal infection and so they prescribe antibiotics but are not sure what they are treating. Consider the dilemma of the following patient:
“I first started having the symptoms about 2 years ago. I saw a few gynecologists and none of them could find out what was wrong. They all diagnosed me with recurrent yeast or bacterial infection and put me on antibiotics, but my condition did not improve. Tired of not feeling like myself, I decided to give it another try and went to see another gynecologist referred to me by a friend. Thanks to Dr. Richards I found out about Dr. Fowler. I flew to Arizona to see Dr. Fowler. From my first visit, I could tell I had finally found a doctor that knew what he was talking about. Dr. Fowler diagnosed me with a case of Vulvodynia and put me on a strict regimen for 4 months. Right away I started to feel better. No more itching, burning or yeast infection. I finally  feel like myself again. What a relief! All I can say is: Dr. Fowler you are a genius and your magic works! Thank you so very much for all your help.”  C. from Glenwood, New Jersey.
How does this happen? Why are there so many women who have distressing vulvovaginal symptoms who cannot find a provider that can diagnose the underlying problem?
The majority of vulvovaginal symptoms are caused by aberrations in the vaginal flora... in other words there has been a shift in the vaginal milieu. These secretions bathe the vagina but also work there way onto the external genital skin as well. Typical training teaches physicians how to diagnose and threat just the 4 common types of vaginitis... BUT it is much more complicated. Gynecologists generally do not even have the more advanced diagnostic equipment to elucidate the abnormal vaginal micro-flora patterns. That's why so many women are told their tissues look normal and the "tests" all come back negative.
At Fowler Gyn International (FGI), they have developed effective treatment protocols to treat the underlying cause of recurrent bacterial and/or yeast infections which is the result of years of clinical observation and research by the founder, board certified gynecologist, Dr. R. Stuart Fowler. You can contact them at  http://www.fowlergyninternational.com/contact-us to learn more. Get evaluated at FGI and experience the difference and true hope for resolution of symptoms.
  • Testmonial for Recurrent UTI's in Phoenix Arizona

Some women get symptoms of bladder infections (UTI’s) but on evaluation the urine cultures keep coming back negative.  This can be perplexing to the patient and their physicians alike. Consider the comments by such a patient that presented to Dr. Fowler at Fowler Gyn International in Phoenix Arizona.
“When I first came to Dr. Fowler I was experiencing symptoms similar to that of a urinary tract infection. It turned out that an overdose of antibiotics I was taking for the urinary tract infection, which in fact I did not have, destroyed the good flora in my vagina. I went through great trauma: unable to sit due to discomfort, could not wear underwear, could not exercise, or have intercourse. After 4 months of the treatment prescribed by Dr. Fowler I am now able to do most everything I could do in the past. I am well on the way to recovery and am confident that the symptoms will resolve 100%.” P. Scottsdale , AZ
What many gynecologists and urologists fail to recognize is that women can get symptoms suggestive of UTI’s or even Interstitial Cystitis when it is neither; the unsuspected etiology has to do with the vagina. Here is how it happens: The vagina can experience bacterial flora shifts that result in irritating secretions. The vagina is composed of very tough and resilient ectoderm and is generally not affected by change in bacterial milieu. These secretions not only bathe the vagina but also the tissues at the opening of the vagina known as the vestibule. The vestibule is composed of endoderm and can get sensitized or become sensitive due to the secretions bathing it. It is within this tissue where the tube that comes from the bladder, the urethra, opens into the vaginal opening. When the vestibule is sensitized, it can irritate the opening of the urethra and result in urethral meatitis. This causes a feeling of urgency and frequency to urinate and burning at the opening on urination. To the patient this feels like a UTI, and to a provider it sounds like a UTI. But when urine cultures consistently come back negative, then some providers suggest that it may be interstitial cystitis, when in actuality it is neither. If a provider prescribes antibiotics, this can further damage the vaginal flora making the problem worse and prolonging the problem.
Based on research conducted, Dr. Fowler discovered that these recurrent UTI-like symptoms are often due to problems with the health or the maturation of the cells forming the mucous membrane of the vagina. This diagnosis can be confirmed by doing advanced testing on the vaginal fluid.  By identifying  the underlying cause, the experts at FGI are able to prescribe an effective treatment that will bring the vaginal micro-flora back into balance.
